I Still Believe

Inside every little girl, there will always be that one corner in her mind, imagining being a princess. Either it be Cinderella, Snow White, Sleeping Beauty, Arial or any other fairy tale royalty (Im not sure about Princess Fiona though =P)

Its the same situation where boys pretend being superheros. Haha. Boys wanna be the tough guy, the guy who saves the world from evil, the guy who stops the world from total destruction. But girls pretend to be princesses becoz they want to feel pampered, loved, wear beautiful clothes, get the prince of their heart and live happily ever after.

I wonder why guys prefer being all macho and tough rather than pretend being a Prince =P. Hahahhaha.. Just a thought. But seriously, why ek? (any explaination guys?)

Anyways, yesterday there wasnt anything interesting on TV so we ended up watching the Disney channel. The movie on was Cinderella III: A twist in time.

Fairy Tales stories have always been an instant hit for children. But as you get older, it becomes a bit cheesy =P Although the sweet feeling of falling in love and the all "love will always find a way" phrases arent exactly as sweet in real life (fairy tales forget to mention the btter parts of love), we are still allowed to dream sometimes arent we =)

I found this beautiful song from Cinderella III. I really enjoyed it. I dedicate this song to all the "princesses" who havent found their prince charming yet. Enjoy =)

Lyrics
I Still Believe - Hayden Panettiere

Somehow I know I will find a way
To a brighter day in the sun
Somewhere I know that he waits for me
Someday soon he'll see Im the one
I wont give up on this feeling
And nothing could keep me away

Cause I still believe in destiny
That you and I were meant to be
I still wish on the stars
As they fall from above
Cause I still believe, believe in love

I know what's real cannot be denied
Although it may hide for awhile
With just one touch love can calm your fears
Turning all your tears into smiles
Its such a wonderous feeling
I know that my heart cant be wrong

Enough to make miracles
Change everything
Lift you from the darkness
And make your heart sing
Love is forever
When you fall..
Its the greatest power of all..

Yes I still believe
Believe in love..

Dont give up gals =)

I'm tired.

Not from the fasting but more from my lack of sleep. I can't hold down a decent sleeping pattern eventhough I vowed to sleep earlier every night. It still ends up the earliest being midnite after a commute, the cool down, the late shower and prayers and the habitual hot drink.

Even before leaving the Kompeni, that would've been my sleeping pattern. At least, I have a room of my own to sneak in a good afternoon nap. Heck, it even had a 2-seater sofa before it was moved to the reading lounge. Over here, it's only a cubicle. Not even a surau for me to sneaky-sneaky. Yesterday, I only realized I had dozed off after I had dropped my handphone onto the desk. While reading a message. Ughh.. And today, I have a 2 o'clock meeting. A double ughh.. I can bet my hairy armpits that I'll be having a hard time trying to stay awake, or at least to show that I'm listening with my eyes closed.

I've always wondered how some people can boast that they only needed 3 hours of sleep, or even 2, and yet still be superachieving or active. Caffeine? Red Bulls? Viagra? I can barely function with less than 7 hours of sleep every day. Okay, I still can but with a miserable, groggy mood. But with 2-3 hours of sleep?

There was this time while travelling on my summer vacation during the student days that I was microsleeping while driving. It had been a long night, we were driving from Boston to Ottawa. Now that I remembered, it was more like New York City to Ottawa, with a day stop in Boston. The hotels were full and we were behind schedule. My shift was from NYC to Boston, late night. Arrived in Boston dawn, had a brief R&R at a lake somewhere before subbing the duty with another buddy. I was a zombie during the whole Boston tour. Then somewhere between Boston and the Canadian border, I was back on driving duty. Late night again (back then, I prefered night driving). We passed Montreal on the way to Ottawa just after day break, only stopping at a petrol station for a fill-up and pee-break. Noticing that the alternate driver is still dozing and I was still feeling 'fresh', I continued with the driving. Only to be shouted at minutes into driving on the interstate by my wife (my 'crush' back then, who was on navigator duty) when she saw me driving with me eyes closed. I had microsleeped. Luckily my arms didn't pull the steering wheel to the side. A quick pit at a trucker-gas-station-park-thingy, and seconds later I was happily dozing away at the back seat.

Heh..

Deja vu. Had I written that before?

Lack of sleep.

It's infectious.

It's irritable.

My Graduation

12:08 PM, Saturday 30 August 2008 .. Posted in The story of my life .. 3 commented .. Link

Ive been putting off writing about my graduation for about 2 weeks now. The truth is, I didnt have any proper pictures to show coz they were all with my frens. Hehhe.. As you can see, I got a few oredi, but Im still waiting for the rest. I heard that there's a whole DVD! Hehehhe..

I wont be able to post the formal pictures from the Uni, coz they havent arrived yet. Ill post them up when I get them ;)

My graduation day was on the 16th of August, at the Putrajaya International Convention Centre. I came to KL from the previous week coz one of my best fren's got married. Ill write a post about her wedding later.

We had the rehearsals one day before. Everyone was already starting to get excited just seeing the hall where our ceremony would be held! Hahha.. It was huge and so cool! The planetary hall was as spendid as seen on TV. Right after the rehearsal, my frens and I went for lunch and came back for our photography session. Hahha.. Kitorg ni semua gile gambar, so you can just imagine how many pictures we took.

The weather was extremely hot that week, and our photo shoot took place outdoors starting at 3pm. Damn it was hot. I ended up with a headache and a fever. Haha.. But we had fun.

I arrived at nenek's house at around 8pm that day bcoz of the terrible traffic jam. Hahha.. Mak and Ayah arrived about an hour later from JB. Im not going to go into all the details of what happened, coz I dont feel like expressing the emotions I left during this course of time. Its too complicated =P Hehe..

The next morning, nenek woke me up at 5.30 am! Haha.. I set my clock at 6 am, so I was deprived of half an hour's sleep.. adoii.. hehe. My parents and I were going by separate cars coz I didnt want them to wait for me afterwards when I was busy with my frens. So I started out from the house at 6.30a.m. followed by my parents a few minutes later. Mak and Ayah insisted we go out early since PICC was kinda far. I went out and fetched Kak Ira from Sentul and drove fast coz I didnt want to be late. Kak Ira had to do her make up in the car! Hehe..

We arrived at around 7.25 a.m. We went to register on the 1st floor, coz all the parents and family members of award recipients had to be seated at the front. When my parents were seated, I straight away went to the 2nd floor to join my frens for the "perarakan masuk graduan". We did each other's robes and hat. Hahaha.. it was so funny! Everyone was starting to get nervous. During the parade of graduates, I was the third person from my course to enter coz we were lined up in alphabetical order.

So we came into the hall and sat at our respectable places. The ceremony started, then came the scroll giving session. When my course came up, one by one we went up onto the stage. You cannot believe how nervous I was. There were so many protocols to follow when taking the scroll from our chancellor. Since he was also the crown prince of Pahang, we were required to bow and say "Junjung Kasih Tuanku" (which is a royal greeting for saying thank you). BUT, being so nervous all of a sudden, when I arrived in front of him, I went and said "Terima Kasih" instead! Hahahhaahhaha.. Sabar je la. So bile dah tersilap tu, ape lagi.. Cepat2 la nak turun pentas. Hahaha.. Its a good thing I was going to go up for a second time later.

After all the graduates in the first session was finished, came the Special Awards Session. Right after I went up the stage to get my scroll, I was then ushered to a special seat at the front row with all the other award recipients. When the time came for us to receive our awards, I found out that I was going to be the first recipient. Hahahha.. Again, I became as nervous as hell. Hahha..

So as I awaited for my name to be called out, I calmed myself and made myself smile as wide as I can to hide the butterflies in my stomach. As my name was called, I walked on the stage with a huge smile. Everyone applauded, my whole batch shouted very loudly, my friends and acquaintances from other campuses were also cheering for me. That moment was just.. unforgetable. Im so glad I have so many friends and so many people supporting me.

This award I received is not really for me. But for all who have helped me in my quest towards my goal. This award is for my beloved parents who have always supported and believed in me. Its for my lecturers who have been so kind to share their knowledge with me. It is for my friends who have been endlessly encouraging me. Without them, I wouldnt have become who I am today. Thank you so much =)

This is the award they gave me. I received a certificate, a plaque (as seen in the picture) and a check for RM1,000 (which I oredi put into my Tabung Haji account =P) Hehhe.. If you notice the small pictures above, you'll see that you cant see my face. Hehehe.. these pictures are courtesy of Shahril who brought along his telephoto lens and took those pictures from his seat. Since his seat was somewhere at the right side of the hall, taking a picture of my face was totally out of the question. Hahahha.. Mane nmpk! I cant wait for my pics from Uni. I hope they turn out okey.

I came down from the stage still with a smile on my face. There's a video of me receiving the award. Ayah and mak took them. Ill post them later ok. After the ceremony finished, all the award recipients were ushered to the press conference room where there was a photography shoot of us with the chancellor and 2 vice chancellors. The crown prince came and talked to us, congratulating us individually. It was an honour.

After the photography shoot, all the award recipients were then ushered to a luncheon with all the VVIPs. Mak and Ayah were already at our table. This luncheon consisted of all the VVIPs, University guests, the university's BOD, the university's higher management, parents of award recipients, and of course, the award recipients themselves. It was great!

Just as I sat down, suddenly one of the committee came to me saying that a few reporters wanted to interview me. So I was brought back to the conference room and interviewed by two reporters; one from Kosmo, the other from Metro. They interviewed only 3 people, me, Zahidah (the chancellor award recipient. yes, it was a girl! GIRL POWER!! Hehhe..) and a boy who I dont remember his name. Im not sure if my interview came out in these two newspapers, coz tak sempat nak beli.. hehhe =P Tapi takpe la. The experience pun dah cukup best =)

Only after the prince left, were we all allowed to adjurn. Haha.. It was a good thing the food was delicious. 1st class all the way. Mak and Ayah certainly ate their share. Hehe.. Afterwards, I intorduced Mak and Ayah to Prof. Abu, one of the vice presidents of the university. Since Ive always been telling my parents about him, what he has done for me and his endless encouragement for my success, I wanted my parents to meet him.

He then said this "Amirah, I want you to work for UNIKL. You should come and sambung ur masters with us. We have a "programme tindikan" where we send you to study overseas."

I was touched! Waahh.. bestnye prof ni. Suka sangat die. So I told him that I oredi called unikl about this, but I havent gotten a response yet. So he went and straight away called our Dean. Hahahhahahahha.. Terus dean tu suruh I email die about my interest. Dah bos suruh, kene la buat kan =P Hehehhehe..

Afterwards, we all went down to the concourse and my parents went home. I stayed on with my friends for another endless photoshoot. Hahahhahaha.. It was great fun compared to my diploma graduation (My friends had all gone home when I came out of the luncheon hall, so tak dpt amik gambar). We all then went to eat Sate Kajang Hj Samuri and I arrived home at about 5 o'clock.

Fiuh, what a day. That night, nenek had a kenduri doa selamat (arghh! no rest!) so again I was deprived of needed sleep. The next day, we had a kenduri from Ayah's side of the family in Subang, one of my friends had a kenduri for her engagement, we had to go back to PICC to take the studio picture (by the uni) and we had to go back to JB, all in the same day! ARGHHH!!

You cannot imagine how tired I was. But I skipped my friends engagement kenduri coz we had to go to Melaka to drop off my grandma. We arrived back in JB at about 8.30pm. Fiuh *wipe forehead* Later, I got a headache, a sore throat and a tempreture. Ape taknye, one whole week of extreme hot weather and exhaustion.

But it was all worth it *wink*

I'll upload other pictures from this day later okey =)

One of the benefits in the Kompeni that I used to work for was a subsidized housing loan for all employees. At a flat rate of 4% p.a., similar to what all government employees are enjoying. A very lovely perk to enjoy, you get cheap house loan, the property is insured for by the Kompeni and there's no floating BLR to worry about.

It goes without saying that if you resign, you have to forgo this benefit. Settled in lump sum, or refinanced to a commercial bank. Meanwhile, in order to hasten your action, the Kompeni will revise the rate from 4% to 7% upon your resignation.

Fine by me, it's not for me to enjoy forever. What irks me the most, is the Kompeni's lackadaisical attitude towards it. I'm sure I'm not the only one going through this because it was whispered to me by one of the banks when I was shopping around for a loan that even if I were to ignore the settlement, there's no way the Kompeni can claim it from me in the court of law.

Why?

It's an open secret that the Kompeni's lawyers never really put a claim on the property at the Land Office in favor of them by virtue of being the financier. Especially for refinancing cases like me when I refinanced it from a commercial bank to the Kompeni. Since the Kompeni did not put a claim at the Land Office, the land title still bears the earlier bank's name as the favored party. Which, I don't have any house loan balance anymore to begin with. Which means, I could just say adios to the Kompeni, not a pay single sen to them, not having to refinance to a new loan and definitely no more monthly installments.

At all.

Forever.

But I'm not gonna do that. It's not my money to begin with. So now, I've got to ketuk some kepala at the Kompeni to hasten this icky procedural thing so that my new financier can release the payments. So that the Kompeni won't be charging me this 7% until God knows when. So that I can be at peace knowing that I've settled my hutang with the Kompeni. I also have to knock some senses into these people on why should I be charged with the 7% beyond my 30 days obligation when I've done all I can to get a new loan yet it's being delayed by the Kompeni's own stupidity? Lawyers who didn't do their work, bosses who never check what is going on in their offices. Nyusahkan orang lain je adanya.

If you're still with the Kompeni and has a company provided house loan, go check with the legal office. Force them to show proof of the land charge is still in your name and in favor of the Kompeni. I bet you my hairy armpits that the document at the Land Office only bears your name and non in favor of the Kompeni.

Beyond that, it's up to you.

I have moved ..

Will move out soon from the chalet's area soon. I have got the key of my new rental house. Hmm ..soon need to locate the new costing for the financial. Sick of me!
Now, need to pay monthly car,house..and adding with the petrol consuming which cost me about RM20-RM30 per two day. But it depends on the distance.
This evening, with my two staffs will arrange to clean the new house. and I hope I will be happy with the new house. Ky seems fine with my choice of house since he will transfer to new office this coming September. At last, after his promotion, he got to move out from the island. Hope we will be happy soon!

D-Day at Permatang Pauh today. I'll just catch tonight's news for the score. Not that it really matter who's the winner going to be. Politicians are politicians, no matter what their flags are, or their colors, or their skins. To me, they're all alike.

Merdeka is around the corner, and I only got to watch this year's Petronas ad over at NST's site. It has become an event on its own every year. Everybody is excited as they wait to see the latest ads. Not just for Merdeka but also for many other national and religious events. It is one of the best ad series, with good storytelling and the messages are protrayed subtlely yet clearly. This year's Merdeka ad is of no exception, combining the messages that we need to save for the future, live within our means, dream big and work hard to achieve that dream. I was awed after watching the ad.

Will the Merdeka message penetrates the minds of my fellow countrymen?

I am..
31 years and 1 day old.
With a thinning head of hair.
And streaks of white hair on the sides.
Not forgotten, a swollen waist and and love handle (the stomach, you dolt!)

I am..
Blessed with a sexy and loving wife.
Entrusted with two cheeky boys.
Thankful to be where and who I am today.

I am..
A work in progress.
With mortal sins.

For all of my imperfections, I am still a superdad to my kids and a hero to my wife.
For all of these, I won't trade them for anything.
For all of these, I am thankful.

I am..
The idiot on a Monday morning who still hasn't started his tasks yet.

It's Friday again, but I won't be going back to KL as I'd normally do. No meetings, no trainings, no nothing. DIdn't walk up to the office with my usual weekend bag. I'll be here for the weekend.

The new iPhone is now available here from today. It looks cool, and a few thousand people have registered to be the first few owners of the unit. Too bad no unbundled units available, one must sign up with a mobile plan in order to get a unit which costs between $0 (yes, free) and $500. Maybe I should just get a PSP to be my commuting buddy instead.

A few of us who are quite new in the office have a lunch appointment today with the office's Big Kahuna at a nearby Italian restaurant. It's either this or Chinese food. Pasta for fuel, plus from the menu they seem to have a wider choices of non-non-halal meat for me to chew on. I just have to excuse myself 30 minutes before the end to run off to the mosque for Friday prayers. Sempat, sempat. It's about 10 minutes walk away. Oh yeah, I was confused about eating crayfish so I tried searching the net which made me off-kilter a bit. The sentence read "Crayfish is a shellfish, the same way crabs, prawns & lobsters are so it's haram". I was like "huh?", only to realized that I had stumbled into the other sect's forum. No wonder I was confused about crayfish all these while. Someone must have given me this misinformation and I've never bothered to confirm it since I'm not a fan of the shellfishies due to my resdung. So pasta with lobster and crayfish for me today, wuhooo!

My first 'unofficial' official lunch with a few of the team members here was at a Peranakan place. Non-halal place of course, but I had fish, otak-otak and some veggie with the rice. I was almost turned off with the sup itik-&-kaki babi on the table, but pejam mata saja lah.

Some people may scoff at me joining the colleagues at these places, but once in a while you just have to join them. It's a social and an official thing, plus you don't want them to see you as an anti-something-something. As long as they understand that meant no non-halal food for me, which they appreciatively do. They got used to me declining their invites for the daily lunch at the nearby foodcourt, what with the non-existence of a proper halal stall. To make it easier for them, I just told them I tend to have my lunch after my mid-day prayers at the mosque so I don't want to impose on them.

It's easier here because there are halal eating places for me to choose. It's totally different when I was studying, sometimes to a point that a few who studied at the Commonwealth countries couldn't understand. Where we studied, it's not easy to really find a proper halal place unlike the UK or OZ where there are in abundance. So we had to 'close one eye' to the kitchen: the grill, the pan, the spatulas (ngeh?), the glove. As long as what we see on our plates are veggies, eggs, plants and fish. Same as when we're travelling on our vacation, or like when I'm on an official business trips. Larat ke nak cokek maggi, instant Campbell's and roti tiap hari?

Luckily it's the final 2 weeks of Ramadhan when I'm in NY for the training and meet-my-real-boss session. One less 'hassle', no lunch required. I could hop over to the American diner or the Persian/Arabian (wasn't too sure) place near the hotel later in the night.

Have a good weekend, y'all. I'll be taking the family to the Singapore Zoo tomorrow. Yes, they're here for the weekend. Nyeh! Nyeh! :P

I was so busy this few days. but I didn't update my blog due to a very good reason....I am so lazy now.
So surprised with the news at 2 pm this afternoon. Ky call but I was so busy freshing myself.
Someone, one of the lady manager in the island was murdered in her room. It was totally shocked for me. I told Ky that this lady is the second wife of the owner of the resort. Ky was speechless when I told her who knows the first wife was attempted to murder the second wife. Just like that slut wanted to do to me..slowly..Just like Killing me Softly! Ahhh..
I was quit okay this morning. Actually I didn't get enough sleep because of heavy rain at 3 something in the morning. Got lightning and I was so fear of that sound thunder while on the way to the office to switch on the main fuse board. The whole place was so dark with a lot of guest came out from their chalets. I just telling them to be patient since I was looking for the key. Luckily I remembered I left the key with the trainee who was on duty till 12 pm. That was the time I left the chalet to go for singing with my DO and maintenance boy.
I am getting my confirmation letter today! Just thinking of what company will be my new employer instead of the hotel line! But, I think I like this company. And today my GM put my name under his new company as one of his main authority. Now, we are trying to get the tender of managing another chalet..just right front of my present chalet. But actually, I was so afraid that it might affect his performance regarding my bankrupt status. I wish I could clear off everything but I won't pay a cent for that culprit and rascal. Never. Forever & ever!
I stayed at the hotel since the hotel's Asst Opr Mgr not around and I was around there to help him to run the hotel. Well, we have 4 tables of Steambot dinner and I managed to be at the F&B for almost half an hour. then I entered the Front Office for approving some transaction which is not my forte(I like this word). But GM told me that I have the authority to make any decision beside his approval. I hope this could be forever! Insya Allah!
